Services within Individual Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy with over 44 randomized controlled trials that support its use with a wide range of trauma presentations. It is used to address adverse life experiences that still hold an emotional charge and contribute to problems in daily living. It is an integrative treatment approach that consists of 8 phases, including dual attention bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tactile taps, and auditory tones).
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is an evidence-based approach that allows people to access and heal their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS conceives of every person as a system of protective and wounded parts led by a core Self. Just as in a family system, inner parts are forced into extreme roles from their valuable natural states. Self is in everyone, knows how to heal and cannot be damaged.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of being consciously aware of the present moment by paying attention, on purpose, without judgment. Through specific practices, mindfulness allows us to cultivate sustained attention, insight, acceptance, and self-compassion. Studies of mindfulness-based therapies have proven effective for reducing stress, anxiety and depression.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
CBT is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on making cognitive shifts that allow for emotional and behavioral change. Negative or unhelpful thought patterns are identified so that new, helpful thoughts can replace them. This allows us to meet challenging situations with clarity and effectiveness.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on mindfulness, improving distress tolerance, emotion regulation strategies, and interpersonal effectiveness. It includes concrete tools and strategies that allow for self-acceptance and behavior change.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
EFT is an alternative practice that involves self-tapping on acupressure points in the face and chest. While research is ongoing, it has been successfully used to treat emotional and physical pain, including in those with anxiety and PTSD.
Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming is an alternative practice that involves becoming fully aware that we are dreaming while we are dreaming. In this state of the subconscious mind, one can engage in psychologically healing practices. While research is ongoing, studies have shown promising results for PTSD and other health issues.
